Hi @thedinosaurexpert
I actually like both bits! When I was younger I quite wanted to be a journalist, so writing up my results and presenting them to people is fun.
When I was a psychologist I loved the data collection, although sometimes it’s time consuming and frustrating. Now for my PhD I’m using data that’s already been collected so I don’t get to do this any more, but maybe I will again later on in my PhD.
Now I really love running the statistics and getting my results out of the mass of numbers in my data.
Hope this answers your question – what do you like best about science?
I definitely prefer the practical part rather than the paper work, but writing can be fun. I guess I like seeing the results for the first time most, but it is very important that scientists share information which often means writing your findings down. If we don’t share information with other scientists then loads of people would end up testing the same thing all over the world – doing experiments to look at things other scientists have already found out about.
What do you prefer, the practical or the paper-work?
tim i like the practical more but i agree about what you say about how you have to write some times or all over the world scientists would all be doing the same project
