      This is all to do with a combination of your genes (in your DNA) and the environment you experience, both as you grow up, and even before you’re born.

      There is some genetic basis to height, because taller parents more often have taller kids (I am very short, and so are both my parents!). Also,your mother’s behaviour before you’re born can have an effect on your eventual height. For example if a mother was to smoke and drink alcohol a lot while pregnant, her child is more likely to end up shorter than they otherwise would.
