• Question: How much have you discovered about how children understand speech and learn to write?

      I haven’t discovered much yet. Science is a long process and we make small discoveries all of the time, but it takes time for them to build into something big.

      I have found out some important things though. One thing is that how good a child is a listening to certain sounds (rhythmic sounds) is really important for them learning to read. Children who have difficulty learning to read also find it difficult to hear changes in rhythm. We don’t yet know if training rhythm in young children will help them be better readers, but we are trying to find that out now.
