Question: If the universe is expanding how would earth end up inside the sun because the space between the sun and earth would expand aswell?

  The earth is only likely to end up in the sun when the sun dies. As a sun dies it expands MASSIVELY so even if the earth and the sun have drifted apart we are still likely to be engulfed.
