Apparently melatonin is available as a sleeping aid.
However, on the NHS you are not allowed it if you’re under 55, and you’re not meant to use it for a long period of time. I presume this means that it has side effects, or it may become less effective over time if you use it a lot. There is more information on the NHS website here
