• Question: what causes babys to be born disabled

      There are lots of reasons way babies may be born with a disability (mental or physical). The reasons can be divided into two main types: (1) injury received either before or during birth; (2) atypical development that results from a genetic abnormality. In general both types can be called ‘congenital disorders’ meaning they exist at birth.

      There is a great Wikipedia page that explains the classification of congenital disorders really well.

      I think Tim’s explained this really well. There can either be a genetic problem, or an injury before or during both.
