      Good question!
I’m not an expert on the heart, but angina is caused by a lack of oxygen (therefore blood) to the heart. So if your blood vessels are blocked up by fat, it can cause it. Being overweight would make you more likely to suffer from it.

Hope this answers your question 🙂

      Hi @brobdingnagian

I’m afraid I don’t study the heart so I don’t know much about the causes of angina. However, these websites look quite useful:
      http://www.medicinenet.com/angina/page2.htm#2whatcauses
      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Angina_pectoris#Cause

From looking at these, it happens when the heart can’t get enough oxygen. This can happen for a lot of reasons – smoking, high cholesterol, and high blood pressure can all make the heart less healthy and deprive it of oxygen.

Doing exercise, eating healthy food and not smoking can all help to keep your heart healthy or make it more healthy.

I hope this helps and answers your question a little?
