I’m afraid I’m not sure why, but I think it is a good thing that they don’t, if they did you would never be able to keep them from eating all the food in the house 🙂
Also surely the shape of cat claws has got to be better for climbing and catching small animals than having a human thumb 🙂
In the wild, they wouldn’t need thumbs, so I guess this is why they don’t have them. Now we keep them in houses surrounded by ‘human’ things, I guess thumbs would be more useful for them – but most cats in my neighbourhood seem quite content without thumbs, leaping on my car and making footprints down the windscreen, doing their business in my vegetable patch, and making me jump when I step out of my front door and there’s one sunning himself on my front porch! (he is pretty cute though)

i wish they did. i dont have a cat but they seem to like lying around a lot. maybe theyre wishing they had thumbs and what they would do next…

You may be right. I’m sure if my old cat had thumbs she would have got up to even more mischief that she did. 😀
