      Thanks for this question!
      Unfortunately it’s very hard to answer, as it can have a number of different meanings.
      Most commonly the word is used to describe the unconscious mind, most often with reference to Sigmund Freud, who believed that in our subconscious lurks all our darkest thoughts and desires. I’m not too sure that I agree with this.
